Dr Alireza Abbassi Monjezi

Dr Alireza Abbassi Monjezi is the inventor of the technology and the Founder at Waterwhelm. He completed his PhD in 2016 on forward osmosis desalination and worked as a post-doctoral researcher for 3 years where he published over 10 peer-reviewed articles in highly ranked international science/engineering research journals. Ali was awarded as the top young business founder in Scotland. In 2020 and hosted by the University of Edinburgh, Ali was awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowship, offered to only 12 postdoctoral founders across the UK every year. In 2021, Ali led Waterwhelm to win the Higg’s Award at Scottish EDGE as the top engineering/science/tech start-up in Scotland.

Steven Rogers

Steven Rogers has over 30 years of experience in chemical/process engineering and innovative engineering design. Having worked with both large multinational engineering companies and early stage businesses in his career, Steven has a full understanding of technology and product development, commercialisation based on customer needs and technical expertise in retrofitting/integrating new technologies with existing infrastructure. He is currently leading the scale-up design and integration of the technology with sources of waste heat including biogas engines, hydrogen production units and solar thermal energy as well as its application in desalination.
